Using bed-roughness signatures to characterise glacial landform assemblages beneath palaeo-ice sheets

Abstract Palaeo-glacial landforms can give insights into bed roughness that currently cannot be captured underneath contemporary-ice streams. A few studies have measured of palaeo-ice streams but the specific landform assemblages has not been assessed. If glacial a characteristic bed-roughness signature, this could potentially used to constrain where certain exist sheets. To test this, was calculated along 5 m × resolution transects (NEXTMap DTM, resolution), which were placed over (e.g. drumlins) in UK. We find combination total and anisotropy define signatures assemblages. The results show different window sizes are required determine for wide range types produce these. Mega scale lineations on average lowest values most anisotropic assemblage.
